Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

Participants MAY NOT RUN THE COURSE MORE THAN ONE TIME UNLESS THEY REGISTER TWICE.  For example, a participant may run in both an individual and team wave as long as they have paid for each registration.  Participants will only be timed in the wave(s) that they start in.

Our policy is that we do not allow refunds, except in the case of military deployments.

There’s no time limit. We want all participants to finish the course in a time that is safe and comfortable to them!

It is a challenge but it is also constructed to be safe for all ages of the participants and the skill level of those participants (some of our younger participants will need assistance, however). You might find some obstacles challenging and others a piece of cake. Just for Fun Waves may skip obstacles without paying the burpee penalty.

We encourage parents to run in the Just for Fun non-competitive wave with their kids, if desired. Adults/parents must be registered to run with their child. EVERY RUNNER MUST BE REGISTERED. If your child desires to run the course alone, they may run in any wave.

Our course is designed with safety as the number one priority. However, in the event an injury occurs, there will be a medical station onsite.
There is no time limit on the course, but most participants finish in under an hour.

We suggest keeping your items somewhere where you know it will be safe, as we will not have a bag check at the event. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. ASCO Spartacus Dash recommends locking vehicles at the event and does not recommend leaving property (especially valuables) in cars. WE WILL HAVE A KEY DROP. PLEASE VISIT THE KEY DROP TENT. ALL ITEMS MUST FIT IN THE QUART SIZED ZIPLOCK BAG PROVIDED AT THE KEY DROP TENT.

A participant can opt out of an obstacle by going around it, with the exception of the competitive waves. Participants ages 12 years and older must complete the obstacle or 15 burpees in the event of a failed obstacle. However, those under the ages of 11 years must complete 10 burpees. Volunteers will be on site to ensure rules are followed. Failure to follow any race rules will result in a DQ.
PARTICIPANTS MUST ATTEMPT TO COMPLETE AN OBSTACLE BEFORE BEGINNING BURPEES. An attempt, at a minimum, is defined by touching the obstacle and making a legitimate effort to make forward progress. In other cases it may include entering the water or other difficult terrain, to get to the obstacle itself. Such terrain cannot be bypassed via a penalty, unless advised as acceptable in pre-race briefings or by race day staff/volunteers.
IN OTHER WORDS, YOU CANNOT ARRIVE TO AN OBSTACLE AND CHOOSE TO “SKIP” IT IN EXCHANGE FOR BURPEES. YOU MUST ATTEMPT THE OBSTACLE AND FAIL BEFORE BEGINNING BURPEES.

Please bring your shoe tag timing chip, race number, a change of clothes and shoes, and a reusable water bottle! There will be vendors onsite, so we recommend packing some cash too!
You will be running. You will be climbing. You will be crawling. And you will get muddy. So wear comfortable clothing that you wouldn’t mind permanently staining. Athletic clothes including running shoes are a must!
For everyone’s safety, strollers are not allowed on course and must stay in the post-race area with an adult.

No, spectators are welcome cheer & take photos for FREE!

Yes. This race will run regardless of the weather, with the exception of severe or extreme weather. More rain simply means more mud! However, in the case of severe or extreme weather, the race may be postponed, rescheduled, or cancelled, especially if the course or obstacles become unsafe for runners. Please check our Facebook Page for updates. No Refunds will be offered. Registration fees will be donated to this years chosen charities.
When you arrive hang around and check out our vendors while waiting for your start time to be called. After you run the
course, you will receive a medal, water, and a finish line snack for your hard work. You can then rinse off, participate in our activities, visit with our sponsors and vendors, watch other participants and stick around for the awards ceremony.
Although we make every effort to capture your race day memories, this is a charity event and photos are not guaranteed. Instructions on how to view race day photos will be sent in a post-race email.

Start times are suggested, not enforced. Start with the wave you feel matches your speed and intensity. You will not register for a time slot.
We have suggested speeds for each wave and you may choose which wave fits best race morning. Simply show up at the start line 5-10 minutes before the wave you want to run in, begins.
